Kavon Russell had a magical season for the Kewanee Boilermakers in 2019 and now he's been recognized for that season by the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association. The voting results from Coaches in all IHSA classes was revealed on Wednesday and the former Kewanee Quarterback turned standout Wide Receiver, Russell was among the players who were chosen by Coaches as one of the All State Players of the Year.
In Class 1A, Drake Van Hyfte was the only member of the dominant A & W Titans Defense to be honored by Coaches as a member of the All State Team. Van Hyfte, the hard hitting linebacker for A *& W has been incredible in leading a defense that regularly shutout opponents during the regular season and is continuing to be a determined and dominating force as they make their way through the 1A playoffs with a chance at a State Championship.
Congratulations to Kavon and Drake on their All State Honors from the Illnois High School Football Coaches Association.
